“Justin, the army has reached the base of the mountains.”
“Thank you. I know. I’m with Kinda.”
“Is Joss’s army ready for this?”
“I hope so. Ora is with them.”
“That’s the best news I’ve had in days.”
“There is still hope. I love you.”
“I love you, too.”
Lucy returned her thoughts to the army below them. She still couldn’t believe its size.
“Big, isn’t it,” said the Rav dryly.
“That’s an understatement,” replied Lucy while Meg clicked her beak. “How can we even hope to win?”
“We might not win. All we can hope to do is fight and keep fighting. Never give up. Everything we do makes a difference. Something we do might make enough of a difference that others can capitalize on it and win. Do not underestimate your friends. They will fight. They are counting on you to even the playing field. What are you made of? Are you a fighter?”
Meg fluttered up to Lucy’s shoulder, a comforting presence.
“Yes,” answered Lucy simply. She was a fighter. She would fight. What else could she do?
